Bitmain Releases ETC Firmware for Antminer E9
By releasing new firmware, mining manufacturers like Bitmain assist their customers with the switch. For instance, Bitmain just made it possible to mine ETC with their popular Antminer E9 models with new firmware that was recently released.
The updated firmware now allows users to mine ETC using Antpool, Poolin, and F2Pool. Download the most recent firmware listed above to mine ETC with an Antminer E9.
Ethereum Merge is NOT the End for ETH Miners
With the upcoming Ethereum Merge, the network will no longer require Ethereum miners. There are plenty of ways for Ethereum miners to continue earning cryptocurrency, so don’t worry. It is now possible to mine on the Ethereum Classic (ETC) network thanks to Bitmain’s recent release of new firmware for the Antminer E9 units.
A significant update to the Ethereum network is the Ethereum Merge, which converts the network from a proof-of-work (PoW) protocol to a proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol. Miners won’t be involved in the new PoS network. Therefore, both experts and miners naturally criticize this step harshly.
While it is true that PoS consumes less energy, security and decentralization are the main issues raised against its use. For many, maintaining a network as decentralized and secure as possible still requires using PoW and miners.
As a result, a lot of ETH miners are searching for different opportunities. For instance, following the completion of the Merge by Ethereum, there will probably be at least one fork. This fork will stick to the PoW Larger exchanges are not likely to support these forks very much, though.
Another fork, Ethereum Classic, is a more established network with a lot of exchange and other platform support. ETC is a fascinating place for miners to continue their operations since that network won’t transition to PoS either.
How to Upgrade Antminer E9 Firmware Online
I. Preparing tools
1. Hardware: computer (Windows system), miner (or control board), router.
2. Software: Bitmain official website latest firmware (supports ETC version firmware), IPReporter tool, Google Chrome (or Firefox).
II. Upgrading
Access System > Upgrade in your miner’s interface. Click “Browse” to find the file and “Flash” to load the file.
After the firmware has loaded, keep the miner running and powered for 20 minutes. It will show “System Upgrade Success” if the upgrade is successful.

Antminer E9 Flashing Instructions
Tools Required:
- Hardware includes a computer (running Windows), a card reader, and the MicroSD card recommended capacity of less than 16GB. Larger capacity MicroSD cards are not recommended as they are very susceptible to errors.
- Software: Antminer E9 SD card firmware and a decompression program (WINRAR is recommended).
Flashing Procedure:
- Insert MicroSD card into computer and format to FAT32.
- Unzip the downloaded image file and copy the contents to the MicroSD card.
- Remove the MicroSD card from the computer and insert it into the card slot on the control board.
- Power on the control board. Allow about 30 seconds for the files to load automatically. When loaded, the green indicator light will be steady on.
- Remove the MicroSD and restart the miner. In over 30 seconds, please reboot the miner. (NOTE: do not power off during the restart process; power failure will cause the OTP to fail to turn on which also damages the control board.)
- Power on the miner and access the miner interface. Remember to upgrade the latest official firmware online.

What is Firmware?
Let’s start by defining firmware.
Firmware is a type of software that can occasionally be updated by users in hardware devices. Firmware is a technology that can be used in a wide range of electronic products, such as remote controls, hard drives, computer keyboards, calculators, and industrial robots.
Let’s talk about why firmware needs to be updated now that you are familiar with what it is.
Why Do We Need to Update the Firmware?
We are all aware that science and technology are constantly being improved through iteration, and firmware is no exception. With the aid of a firmware update, the mining device can add some features and work more effectively.
Mining operations may use less electricity as a result of these firmware updates.
The miner’s processing power may also be increased by some firmware updates. More processing power for the same machine can be obtained by updating the firmware. This kind of firmware can increase miners’ mining revenues.
Firmware is also available to enhance restart processes, high-temperature protection processes, etc. for miners. The dependability and stability of the miner can be improved with the aid of such firmware.
Despite the good firmware, not all firmware updates can be completed quickly. As soon as miners discovered that a specific firmware could significantly increase computing power, regardless of the source, they downloaded and updated the machine’s firmware. As a result, the device operates erratically and may even cause the mining device to become contaminated and computing power to be stolen. This means that you should only ever use the official firmware that came with the mining machine.
